Jackson artist, Jabari 'Safari Bari' Harris, sat down with us in Episode 33 of 'Who's Hot? Exclusive' to discuss his athletic background, fatherhood, and journey into becoming a rapper. Check out the full interview below!

When it comes to being recognized for their creative talents, the state of Mississippi often goes overlooked. A former athlete turned artist invokes the powerful words uttered by Hip Hop legend Andre 3000 at the infamous 1995 Source Awards. “The South got something to say.”

Hip Hop artist Jabari 'Safari' Harris uses his experiences on the gridiron and in life to vividly paint pictures about embracing your imperfections, evolving with intentions and quite frankly enjoying the moment.

Currently based in Norway, Harris thoroughly understands his role in music and wants to empower and positively influence the next generation, starting with his son.

With me being an athlete, I always knew I had a platform. Then i had to think to myself, what is it i’m actually trying to say. I’m a conscious rapper. I like to rap about things people can relate to. With me now being a father, I told myself I wanna say things that i would want him to hear and take heed to it...
— Jabari Harris

A lifelong lover of melodies, the Jackson, Mississippi native continues to spread positivity through coaching while flexing his creative muscles through music.

Who's Hot? Exclusive | Ep. 30 ft. Courtland Liddel

By:  Joshua Martin

When it comes to the entertainment industry, no region gets more overlooked than the south, most notably the state of Mississippi. Which is ironically the home to some of the most talented individuals the country has ever seen. From Oprah Winfrey to Snoop Dogg to Morgan Freeman, this state's lineage runs deep with those who not only changed the game but enhanced it.

Grammy Award Winning Sound Mixing Engineer Courtland Liddell, has done an excellent job at representing a state that is often known for its shortcomings rather than its talent. In a once thankless position, Liddell is here to set the record straight, that sound engineers play a crucial part in the construction of some of today’s hottest songs.

Most people just see the artist, they hear about the producers now, and maybe occasionally the song writer. But they don’t never really hear about the engineers. We are the ones that really tie it all together. We are the glue that bonds all of these different elements. So essentially without us, audio engineers from recording to mixing to mastering, you guys don’t really get to hear a song.
— Courtland Liddel

Born and raised in Jackson, MS, a young Courtland wanted to be a recording artist initially. Having been a huge fan of Michael Jackson, Courtland saw himself as the next great R&B superstar. His musical journey would eventually crystalize when in highschool he ran into his best friend that turned him onto hip hop.

After Highschool, Liddell enrolled into the Army National Guard where he served in Special Forces. His passion for music did not cease however and while in service he continued to pursue a career in music. Spending hours on the popular music production software “Fruity Loops”.

His consistency and dedication to his craft led to some major opportunities in not only music but the film industry as well. A firm believer in God and family, Courtland remains humble to this day. Crediting his mother and closest friends to his many successes.

Courtland vows to continue to work hard and lend a helping hand to those who need advice on how to navigate the treacherous landscape known as the music industry.

To book Courtland for consultations or his productions services you can find him on Assemble and all social media sites under the handle @lidzthewiz
