Grammy Awards 2026 Recap: Black Excellence Dominates Music’s Biggest Night

From Kendrick Lamar’s chart-topping dominance to generational tribute moments and breakout wins, the 2026 Grammy Awards underscored how Black artists continue to define the sound, spirit, and global reach of music’s biggest stage! We discuss it here!

Kendrick Lamar Breaks the Grammy Record for Most Wins by a Hip Hop Artist

By: Joshua Martin

The 68th Annual Grammy Awards wrapped another star studded night of celebration on February 1st, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Hosted by Trevor Noah, the ceremony honored outstanding recordings and performances across numerous musical genres. With African American artists capturing some of the night’s biggest moments and continuing to shape the cultural soundscape.

Leading the field once again was Kendrick Lamar, who walked away with five Grammys. Including Record of the Year for “Luther” (with SZA) and Best Rap Album for GNX. Lamar’s wins reinforced his reign as one of hip hop’s most revered voices, commanding both commercial and critical acclaim.

A standout tribute moment during the Grammy weekend celebrations came as The Fugees reunited with Lauryn Hill and others for a moving performance of Roberta Flack’s and D'Angelo's greatest hits. The performance honored both Flack’s timeless legacy and D'Angelo's continued cultural impact through iconic covers. Hill’s vocals, paired with Wyclef Jean, drew a standing ovation as the audience sang along, bridging generations of music lovers.

Their music taught us how to feel, how to love and how to be honest in our art. We carry them with us every time we step on stage.
— Lauryn Hill

The performance stood as one of the evening’s most powerful moments, reminding viewers of their legacies that continue to inspire today’s artists.

The night also saw notable recognition for Tyla, who won Best African Music Performance for “Push 2 Start,” showcasing the global footprint of Black music that transcends genres and borders.

Another major highlight of the night came when rising R&B star Leon Thomas earned his first Grammy win, marking a milestone in his transition from songwriter and producer to performer.

I’ve spent years helping others tell their stories, so to finally have mine heard like this means everything.
— Leon Thomas

The win signaled a breakout moment for Thomas, whose blend of musicianship and storytelling continues to position him as one of R&B’s most exciting young voices.

The 2026 Grammys not only celebrated hit records and stand out performances but also reaffirmed the enduring influence of Black artistry at the very pinnacle of the music industry.

Drake Becomes First Rapper to Place 10 Albums Simultaneously on Billboard 200

Drake makes history as the first rapper ever to place 10 albums on the Billboard 200 at the same time, proving his unmatched longevity, cultural impact, and dominance across generations in the streaming era! We discuss it here!

By: Joshua Martin

Chart history was rewritten this week as rap superstar Drake became the first rapper in history to have 10 different albums simultaneously on the Billboard 200. An iconic achievement no other MC has ever reached.

In the current Billboard tracking week, Drake’s catalog dominates US album charts with projects spanning his entire career. From early classics like “Take Care” and “Thank Me Later” to recent releases such as "For All The Dogs" and "Certified Lover Boy".

The milestone underscores Drake’s unmatched longevity and cultural impact in an era defined by streaming. At a time when many artists struggle for visibility amid intense competition, Drake’s deep catalog continues to resonate with fans across generations. Reminding the industry that his music remains a soundtrack to life for millions.

According to chart observers, the ten albums currently charting include Take Care, Views, Certified Lover Boy, For All The Dogs, Scorpion, More Life, Thank Me Later and others, each occupying its own space on the Billboard 200.

While Drake hasn’t publicly commented on the feat yet, the milestone arrives as he’s already widely recognized as one of the most successful artists of the 21st century. Billboard previously named him the No. 1 R&B/Hip-Hop Artist of the 21st Century, based on chart dominance and cultural influence.

This latest record cements Drake’s legacy not just as a prolific creator, but as a historic chart force. Bridging eras of hip hop from mixtape culture to global streaming dominance.

North Carolina Rapper Jae Breeze Drops Top Tier Fourth Album "Table For One"

Jae Breeze returns with his fourth album Table For One, a 13-track project showcasing his growth as an artist and featuring collaborations with Niane', Saint Sinatra, FOREVERJABRON, and D4GShellz, blending smooth R&B vibes with his east coast hip-hop delivery! We discuss it here!

Jae Breeze

Jae Breeze Releases New Album, Table For One

By: Omar Cook

After two years since his last release, Sincerely, Breeze, North Carolina rapper Jae Breeze is back with his fourth full-length album, Table For One. The 13-track project features collaborations with D4GShellz, Saint Sinatra, FOREVERJABRON, and Niane', delivering a versatile mix of sounds that showcase Jae Breeze’s growth as both an artist and an individual.

Jae Breeze has been vocal about his philosophy toward music, especially as an independent artist. He shared that creators should focus on the art itself rather than the spectacle of massive rollouts. The album reflects the culmination of a two-year battle with writer’s block, resulting in a complete project that highlights his evolution.

Among the standout tracks, Here Goes Again featuring Niane' offers a smooth R&B vibe that feels perfect for a late-night drive. Another favorite, You Make Me featuring Saint Sinatra, dives into love and relationships with a mellow and thoughtful delivery. Jae Breeze’s authenticity and dedication shine through, making Table For One a must-listen project that represents independent artists on the East Coast at their finest.

Jae Breeze

Jae Breeze "Table For One" Tracklist

Interview with Jae Breeze

How did you come up with the name Table For One?

“As I continue to grow within the music space and listen to my music from ‘4U’ to ‘Table For One’, I feel as if my style stands out. No project of mine sounds the same nor sounds like someone else’s music. That’s where Table For One came from because at the table I sit at musically, nobody else can sit there and mimic my work.”

What messages are you looking to send with this project?

“The message I’m looking to send is to be taken seriously when it comes to music because I put out quality records from start to finish.”

What’s your favorite track?

“My favorite track off Table For One would be Count It Up because I rarely tap into that style of music sonically and when I do, it’s always a challenge, and I love to challenge myself.”

How was the process of creating this project?

“The process of creating this project was actually hard compared to my other bodies of work. From the production to the lyrics, I had to make sure this was my best work coming off of dropping Sincerely, Breeze in 2023. A two-year hiatus from having writer’s block was difficult, but we overcame it and now we have Table For One.”

Anyone you would like to give thanks to?

“I would like to give thanks to Omar Cook for reaching out to put a spotlight on the project. I really appreciate that a lot. I would like to thank the features on the project also (Niane', ForeverJabron, D4GShellz, and Saint Sinatra). I would also like to thank my bros Zach, Darion, Kentaius, Rashod, Ru, Daraj, and the Most High God himself. They all believed and still do believe in me musically, and I appreciate them. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my fiancée Sarah Kelleh for being my musical ear when I play her stuff, along with my two kids Jaden and Janaya Turner. Last but not least, the fans. Thank you for sharing, liking, commenting, and sticking with me through thick and thin when it comes to this music.”

What separates this project from your others?

Table For One versus everything else I dropped is like being a toddler and now being a wise adult. This project showcases the growth, the versatility, the hunger, the potential, and how focused I am with making sure everything is perfect. I want to be number one and I’m showing it with this project.”

Anything else we should know?

“I want to say I’m working hard to produce more visual content for the project. So, I’m working on those, and I’m also working on the deluxe version for Table For One in real time.”

Table For One is available now on all streaming platforms. With a mix of introspection, energy, and smooth vibes, Jae Breeze proves that independent artists can deliver projects that are both authentic and professional. From start to finish, this album takes listeners on a journey through his artistry, growth, and dedication to the craft.

The two designs available for the Nipsey Hussle TAP card will feature him standing proudly in his neighborhood in artwork titled “Crenshaw & Slauson,” by Jonathan Mannion. The second image captures the late rapper on the Metro, in a photo taken by Anthony Pham.

Earlier this year, Nipsey Hussle’s brother, Blacc Sam, revealed that his first posthumous album is in the works and is set to be released later this year, while also clarifying that only certain music from the slain artist would ever see the light of day.

If Hussle didn’t actually do the verse or work with the person or put together the blueprint for the project, we not doing it. He did something with Bino, and there’s a new project that we’re about to release. This was a project that he had with Bino that was pretty much like 80% finished.
