Jae Breeze has been vocal about his philosophy toward music, especially as an independent artist. He shared that creators should focus on the art itself rather than the spectacle of massive rollouts. The album reflects the culmination of a two-year battle with writer’s block, resulting in a complete project that highlights his evolution.
Among the standout tracks, Here Goes Again featuring Niane' offers a smooth R&B vibe that feels perfect for a late-night drive. Another favorite, You Make Me featuring Saint Sinatra, dives into love and relationships with a mellow and thoughtful delivery. How did you come up with the name Table For One?
“As I continue to grow within the music space and listen to my music from ‘4U’ to ‘Table For One’, I feel as if my style stands out. No project of mine sounds the same nor sounds like someone else’s music. That’s where Table For One came from because at the table I sit at musically, nobody else can sit there and mimic my work.”
What messages are you looking to send with this project?
“The message I’m looking to send is to be taken seriously when it comes to music because I put out quality records from start to finish.”
What’s your favorite track?
“My favorite track off Table For One would be Count It Up because I rarely tap into that style of music sonically and when I do, it’s always a challenge, and I love to challenge myself.”
How was the process of creating this project?
“The process of creating this project was actually hard compared to my other bodies of work. From the production to the lyrics, I had to make sure this was my best work coming off of dropping Sincerely, Breeze in 2023. A two-year hiatus from having writer’s block was difficult, but we overcame it and now we have Table For One.”

“I would like to give thanks to Omar Cook for reaching out to put a spotlight on the project. I really appreciate that a lot. I would like to thank the features on the project also (Niane', ForeverJabron, D4GShellz, and Saint Sinatra). I would also like to thank my bros Zach, Darion, Kentaius, Rashod, Ru, Daraj, and the Most High God himself. They all believed and still do believe in me musically, and I appreciate them. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my fiancée Sarah Kelleh for being my musical ear when I play her stuff, along with my two kids Jaden and Janaya Turner. Last but not least, the fans. Thank you for sharing, liking, commenting, and sticking with me through thick and thin when it comes to this music.”
What separates this project from your others?
“Table For One versus everything else I dropped is like being a toddler and now being a wise adult. This project showcases the growth, the versatility, the hunger, the potential, and how focused I am with making sure everything is perfect. I want to be number one and I’m showing it with this project.”
Anything else we should know?
“I want to say I’m working hard to produce more visual content for the project. So, I’m working on those, and I’m also working on the deluxe version for Table For One in real time.”

When people talk about D’Angelo, they often start with the music. But to understand what he meant to Black culture, you have to go beyond sound. D’Angelo wasn’t just a musician. He was a mirror, a prophet, and sometimes a warning. He represented what happens when a Black artist refuses to shrink or simplify himself to fit what the world expects.
In the mid-90s, R&B had become shiny and predictable. The soul was still there, but it was buried under polish and performance. Then D’Angelo came along with Brown Sugar and reminded us that groove and grit could coexist. He made music that felt human again. He brought back live instruments, imperfections, the subtle hum of something real. He reconnected a generation of listeners to the lineage of Marvin, Stevie, Curtis, and Prince—but he didn’t imitate them. He carried their torch forward into a new era where hip-hop and soul could share the same body.
D’Angelo didn’t just make songs; he made soundscapes that told the truth about the interior life of Black people. That truth was layered—sensual and spiritual, sacred and messy. His second album, Voodoo, didn’t ask to be understood on first listen. It asked you to feel. It was swampy, slow, deliberate, drenched in history and pain and pleasure. And it came from the Soulquarians, a creative collective that refused to fit into industry molds. That was part of his power: he didn’t just make music that sounded different; he lived differently. He stood for experimentation, for artistry over commerce, for soul over spectacle.
But spectacle still found him. The video for “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” turned him into an icon, but not on his own terms. What was meant to be intimate became a cage. The world fell in love with his body before they finished listening to his voice. That moment revealed something deeper about how America treats Black men: celebrated when desirable, dehumanized when complex. The burden of being a symbol was heavy, and it broke him for a while. His retreat from fame wasn’t weakness. It was survival.
When D’Angelo returned with Black Messiah after fourteen years, it wasn’t nostalgia—it was resurrection. The country was in turmoil. Black Lives Matter was rising. The air was thick with grief and resistance. And here he came, raw and raspy, singing like he’d been through something holy and hard. That album didn’t cater to playlists or radio. It sounded like a sermon from a weary preacher who still believes deliverance is possible. He reminded us that Black art doesn’t have to be clean to be sacred.
That’s what D’Angelo meant to Black culture: he gave permission to be fully human. To be brilliant and broken, sensual and spiritual, angry and tender. He made space for contradiction. He made silence feel powerful. In a world that tries to flatten Black artists into either saviors or sinners, he chose to be both—and neither. He lived inside the tension.
His absence was part of the message too. In his quiet years, we learned the value of retreat. That you don’t have to constantly perform your genius for it to be real. That disappearing can be a form of resistance. That healing can take as long as it needs to. His reemergence proved that creative integrity can outlast an industry that thrives on burnout and exploitation.
You can hear his fingerprints in the work of artists who came after him—Solange, Frank Ocean, H.E.R., Kendrick, even in younger singers who bend genre like it’s clay. But his influence isn’t only musical. It’s philosophical. He showed that Black artistry doesn’t need permission to evolve. That the soul isn’t something to be packaged—it’s something to be protected.
When we talk about D’Angelo now, we’re not just mourning a man. We’re acknowledging a blueprint. He taught us that beauty and rebellion are not opposites. That vulnerability is a form of strength. That Blackness, in all its shades and contradictions, deserves to be explored, not explained.
He reminded us that music can be a revolution without shouting. Sometimes the softest notes carry the most truth. Sometimes the quietest man in the room is the one changing everything.
D’Angelo meant to Black culture what the ancestors meant to him: continuity. A reminder that our art doesn’t have to fit the times—it can shape them. That the sound of freedom is never finished. It just keeps finding new ways to hum.

Two of Hip Hop's most iconic record labels will battle for the pride of New Orleans at this year’s ComplexCon 2025 in Las Vegas, marking the return of ‘Verzuz’, the popular live performance platform. Master P and Birdman’s deep stable of talent will face off, headlining this year’s event, in what will surely be a tense battle of classic rap anthems. Offering a powerful dose of the bayou’s best for one unforgettable night.
Scheduled to take place on October 25th and the 26th at the Las Vegas Convention Center, ComplexCon’s opening day will end with the highly anticipated return of ‘Versus.’ The platform went on a 3 year hiatus after a tumultuous fallout between co-founders Swizz Beatz & Timbaland against their former partner Triller. Swizz and Tim sued Triller for $28 million in August 2022, accusing the company of failing to make agreed-upon payments to the two producers.
In the early 1990s, two influential record labels emerged from New Orleans, No Limit Records and Cash Money Records. With founders who were both natives of the city, their history and complex relationship runs deeper than a typical rap rivalry.
Established by Master P, No Limit Records reshaped the Hip Hop industry by transforming an independent label into a national force. Built around Master P as the leading artist, the label also introduced the world to Tru, a group featuring his brothers Silkk the Shocker and C Murder, along with standout solo acts like Soulja Slim, Mystikal and Mia X. The label's signature sound was crafted by the in-house production team, Beats By The Pound. Snoop Dogg also spent a few years on the powerhouse label in the late ’90s following his departure from Death Row.
Master P, Founder of No Limit Records
Known for its prolific output and consistent commercial success, No Limit set the standard for independent labels in the South. Its fast rise to the top of the Billboard charts helped redefine what Southern Hip Hop could achieve, making No Limit one of the most influential movements in rap history.
While No Limit Records was reaching its peak, Cash Money Records emerged as a powerful force in its own right, further cementing New Orleans as a major player in the Hip-Hop industry. Founded by brothers Bryan “Birdman” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams, the label introduced its gritty, melodic Southern sound to the mainstream with Juvenile's breakthrough 1998 album, 400 Degreez.
Cash Money’s rise was fueled by the success of the Hot Boys, a supergroup featuring Lil Wayne, B.G., Turk and Juvenile. With a steady stream of both group and solo releases, the label quickly became a dominant force in rap, laying the foundation for a new generation of Southern artists and solidifying its place in Hip-Hop history. The label is also responsible for the early success of Drake, Nicki Minaj and Tyga.
Though both labels have delivered iconic music, unforgettable moments and legendary artists, both collectives' rich legacies will be on the line as they go hit for hit in an epic battle for New Orleans Hip-Hop supremacy.

Los Angeles, CA — The Leimert Park Music Series continues to rise as one of Los Angeles’ most powerful platforms for Black creatives, and the 7th showcase on Monday, September 29th was a shining example of why this movement matters. Hosted once again at the historic World Stage in Leimert Park and presented by 247 Live Culture, the night was filled with electric performances, positive energy, and an overwhelming sense of community love.
The lineup featured a brilliant mix of talent—poet Ki Divine, rappers A. Mahnaz, Isaiah Bowers, and Omar Cook, and R&B singer Prince Ndour—each bringing their own soul, story, and spirit to the stage.
Ki Divine gave a soul-stirring spoken word performance that took the audience on a spiritual journey through rhythm and truth. A. Mahnaz amazed the crowd with a fearless, faith-driven set, honoring God with powerful bars and unapologetic energy. Isaiah Bowers brought West Coast vibes and superstar charisma, effortlessly engaging the room with his sharp delivery and presence.
Prince Ndour, representing the soul of Africa, delivered smooth R&B vocals that transcended borders. Omar Cook spoke with intention, performing “I Feel It” and “Real Love,” and inspiring the crowd with a message of purpose, love, and elevation.

In an announcement by Hanover Square Press, the book will be co-written by Gerrick Kennedy and will be available for purchase March 31st, 2026. The New York Based book publisher also revealed the book’s cover featuring the GRAMMY Award winner at her most elegant.
The book will cover all of the singer’s monumental highs to her once highly protected lows. From her McComb, Mississippi upbringing, to signing her first record deal at the tender age of 14, going platinum a year later, starring in the acclaimed sitcom ‘Moesha’, to making history as the First Black actress to portray a Disney princess, ‘PHASES’ will give fans a raw in-depth view into her life.

Hosted at the iconic World Stage and presented by 247 Live Culture, the night was filled with soul, energy, and purpose as community came together to celebrate rising Black artists and the vibrant creative spirit of South Los Angeles. From the moment doors opened, there was a powerful sense of unity in the room—one fueled by great music, positive energy, and authentic connection between the performers and the community.
With sounds curated by Sweet Candy Radio, the transitions between sets kept the energy flowing seamlessly all night. Every artist on the lineup brought their A-game, offering the crowd a blend of raw truth, healing, and celebration through their art. 2 Hungry opened hearts with a passionate performance rooted in faith and redemption, using the stage as his sanctuary. Arii The Chosen followed with a spiritually charged and uplifting set, inspiring the audience through lyrical authenticity.
Hersoul brought fearless confidence, hyping the crowd with bold bars and empowering energy, while Jaleel Harley repped New York with slick wordplay, dynamic flow, and a fun East Coast vibe that had everyone vibing. Sneak Duce turned pain into purpose as he passionately shared his story of redemption and uplifted God through every verse.
Omar Cook started the momentum with a motivational performance that blended self-empowerment and lyrical excellence. Chi Rose brought angelic vocals and a deeply soulful performance, including a stunning acapella moment that left the audience in awe.

About The World Stage
Founded in 1989 by legendary jazz drummer Billy Higgins and acclaimed poet Kamau Daáood, The World Stage is a historic cultural institution located in the heart of Leimert Park. For over 30 years, it has served as a sanctuary for Black artistic expression—hosting jazz greats, poets, musicians, and visionaries. Today, it continues to be a space where creativity, activism, and community intersect.
