Naturally, when Beyoncé speaks, we sure as heck listen… 'Look around, everybody on mute' or whatever the queen said. Introducing Cécred - 2.20 was the email summary. Honestly, I know how intriguing this sounds. What is Cécred (/ˈseɪ.krɪd/)? What is the 411?
In the middle of last year, on May 16, 2023, Beyoncé foreshadowed a haircare line via Instagram, teasing us with her precious insightful Instagram tactics. Although Beyoncé never really writes a caption in her photos, which, oh my gosh when she does, the girls squirm. However, in her photo carousel, she gave us a caption moment of its own.

“How many of y’all knew my first job was sweeping hair in my mama’s salon? Destiny’s Child got our start by performing for clients while they were getting their hair done. I was exposed to so many different kinds of entrepreneurial women in her salon. I saw firsthand how the ways we nurture and celebrate hair can directly impact our souls. Wait, but, it nearly does not stop there. Beyoncé so gradually invited many influencers to give them a tease of her haircare line. The collaboration included influencers such as Bet Man Rock, Jasmean, Makeup Shayla, Joyjah, and many more. Beyoncé picked up the influencers in a black luxurious SUV where a personalized audio note thanked them for joining her and her renaissance experience. They then arrived at the suite where they were able to meet Mama Tina. Along with the excitement of the concert, they were gifted with a gift bag of a Tiffany & Co necklace as well as a Renaissance tour book signed by Beyoncé.

Properly named after one of her most popular songs, Who’s That Girl?, the First Lady of the Ruff Ryders is finally telling her story in the form of a new memoir co-written by critically acclaimed hip-hop journalist and author Kathy Iandoli. Set to release later this fall on September 17th, the new book will chronicle the rapper’s rise to prominence in a male-dominated industry, her impact on hip-hop culture, and her iconic fashion choices.

Atlanta native and activist Killer Mike had an impressive showing at the 2024 Grammys, capturing the win for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance. All thanks to Michael, a 14-track ensemble laced with influences from gospel, soul, and hip-hop. The Moorehouse graduate in an interview labeled the project an “come home moment musically” and as a way to honor the Civil Rights and the Abolishment movements.
Basking in the glow of his recent wins, the 48-year-old shared a bit of wisdom to the adulating audience.
“You can make one hit song, make 10 hit songs. The only thing stopping you, the only limitation you have is your imagination. It’s our opportunity; it is our must. It is our absolute responsibility to be grand in every action. For 20 years I’ve been saying, ‘I can do it, I can do it, I can do it.’ Then in the 20th year of Hip-Hop, here I am doing it.”
Later that evening, Killer Mike shared his thoughts on his remarkable feat during Black History Month and how he views Hip Hop as a whole. Calling his hometown of Atlanta,GA “the Capital of Black America” while also shouting out his city's legends who had a hand in producing Atlanta’s diverse musical sound.
“Whether it’s Kenny Mason, Killer Mike, Outkast, T.I., or Jeezy, we are giving you a plethora of styles that you should be listening to.”

On Friday, January 19th, 2024, the streets of downtown LA filled with traffic as Kevin Gates made his way to Savanna Rooftop for his listening party for his new album titled The Ceremony. The anticipation for a new project was undeniable since the 2 Phones rapper has not dropped an album since Khaza in 2022. On the red carpet, his friends, family, and fans shared their excitement and gratitude for Kevin as he continues to share his mental, physical, and spiritual journey with us in The Ceremony. Celebrity sightings included Domani Harris, Tay Savage, KaMillion, Fredo Bangz, Drieka Gates, and more.

As the carpet ended, guests headed up to the rooftop where the vibes began. Upon entry, the gold decorations and large balloon arches gave luxurious vibes, and the small bites kept us full and ready for the open bar. The cocktail options ranged from tequila, rum, and vodka with names from songs from the album like Healing, The Ceremony, and Yonce Freestyle. Now, this wasn’t the only open bar at this party; there was also a cannabis bar for the flower connoisseurs where joint rollers rolled a strain of your choice right in front of you. Not only that, there were go-go dancers on rings and breathing fire. Can you say lit, literally?
After Gates got comfortable in his VIP section and greeted his family, he blessed the stage and performed a few of the tracks from The Ceremony to start the listening party. From what I heard, all I can say is, do not sleep on this album! He gave an ode to Plies and T-Pain’s ‘Shawty’ in his smooth track ‘Lil Yea’. He also mixed the 99 and the 2000s with the new wave of rap in Yonce Freestyle featuring BG and Sexxy Redd, which are the only features on this album. The Ceremony takes listeners on a ride with Kevin Gates as he shares his journey from 2022 to 2024 over beats and with bars. After years of fans anticipating a new rap album from one half of the iconic rap group Outkast, Three Stacks surprised many of his hardcore fans with an instrumental LP in November of last year entitled New Blue Sun. Reaching critical acclaim, albeit with a few raised eyebrows, with the first track “I Swear, I Really Wanted to Make a ‘Rap’ Album but This is Literally the Way the Wind Blew Me This Time”. The seven time Grammy Award winner’s latest project is the first piece of new music from him in nearly a decade.
“I discovered the flute and I started playing it over and over again for years, and I felt like it would be great to share it, so it kinda came in a natural way. It’s the closest thing to singing.”
Now the multi-hyphenate entertainer is taking his flute on the road, revealing the upcoming run of dates for his New Blue Sun live tour.
The “intimate” tour kicks off in Brooklyn on Monday, Jan. 29th at the Crown Hill Theatre and will continue in select cities including Chicago, Detroit, New York City and Atlanta before closing out in Los Angeles in early March at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever.
New Blue Sun was co-produced by multi-instrumentalist Carlos Nino and featured the musicality of various other artists such as Nate Mercereau, Surya Botofasina, Deantoni Parks, Diego Gaeta and Mia Doi Todd to name a few.
The album opens with a 12-minute track titled “I Swear, I Really Wanted to Make a ‘Rap’ Album but This Is Literally the Way the Wind Blew Me This Time,” that debuted at 90 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. 3000 also made history with the record as it was the longest song in the chart’s history.

After a 36-year career in the entertainment industry as a rapper, songwriter, film & record producer, actor, and lastly sports entrepreneur, Big3 founder, and West Coast Hip Hop legend Ice Cube was recently inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, with the institution also naming the inaugural Ice Cube Impact Award after him.

The unexpected distinction had the rap legend at a loss of words after receiving the honor from such a prestigious and esteemed organization.

Ice Cube will develop the exact criteria for winning the award within the framework set by the Hall of Fame.

Today, he announced the imminent release of his latest album, "American Dream," scheduled to drop this Friday, January 12. 21 Savage is looking to mirror the success of his last solo project which hit number one on the Billboard 200 chart and also was RIAA-certified Platinum in 2020.

In light of the rap group’s monumental impact on music and culture, N.W.A. is being honored at the 2024 Grammys with this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award. According to the Recording Academy, the Lifetime Achievement Award is “presented by vote of the Recording Academy’s National Trustees to performers who, during their lifetimes, have made creative contributions of outstanding artistic significance to the field of recording.”
Originally from Compton, California, N.W.A. mainly consists of Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, MC Ren, and DJ Yella. Armed with explicit and often controversial lyrics about societal issues that remain prevalent in the inner cities of America till this day, their authenticity and unapologetic approach gained them critical success and a devout following.
“The World’s Most Dangerous rap group” will be among other recipients of the prestigious accolade, which will be presented on February 3rd at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles. Other notable honorees in this year’s class include the Empress of Soul Gladys Knight, the late great Disco songstress Donna Summer and gospel group, The Clark Sisters.
The incendiary yet trailblazing hip hop group that introduced the world to gangsta rap will become the sixth act of its genre to receive the highly coveted award. Previous winners include Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, Run-DMC, Public Enemy, Salt-N-Pepa and Slick Rick.
Additionally, Dj Kool Herc will be honored with the Trustees Award for his widespread influence and contributions to hip hop culture. Described as a “Special Merit” award by Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr., the special honor is given to those who represent the rich diversity that drives creative communities forward.

Being absent in 2023, I lost friends, fans, [and] even business relationships because of my absence, and ambitions to be a boss and build something my family can stand on.
“My label headquarters and studio [are] done hiring staff [and] getting it running… And I’m about to shake the world up with new music. Everybody can’t see the end goal and that’s okay! But I’m proud of myself. No investors, no funding, and barely any help. I was on my hands and knees most days doing work. Whatever it took. This [is] my legacy. I can’t wait to hold my first plaque from something I built and I WILL do that this year.”

There's a possibility that JAY-Z's birthdate might be designated as an official holiday in New York City. As per ABC 7 New York, New York City Council members have proposed legislation to declare December 4, the rapper and mogul's birthdate, as "JAY-Z Day" in recognition of his significant cultural and societal contributions.
“The global phenomenon that is JAY-Z—born Shawn Carter—is widely known as an artist, mogul, husband and father, wealth builder, and supporter of economic development and community causes.”
Louis and several other Councilmembers have forwarded the proposal to the Committee on Cultural Affairs, Libraries, and International Intergroup Relations. This resolution is set for review during the 2024 session of the New York City Council, commencing on January 3.
“Dec. 4 as JAY-Z Day announces to the world how this Brooklyn son can be all things, including loved by his community. In the spirit of celebrating Hip-Hop’s 50th anniversary, establishing an annual celebration to recognize a homegrown hero while proclaiming our municipal support is fitting.”
In the earlier part of this year, the Brooklyn Public Library unveiled the "Book of Hov" exhibit, showcasing a range of items and memorabilia linked to JAY-Z's remarkable career. Drawing in hundreds of thousands of visitors, this exhibit will continue to be accessible to the public until December 2023.

In her efforts to spread a little holiday cheer this Christmas season, Atlanta based rapper Latto did just that and then some with her 3rd annual ‘Christmas in Clayco’ event in Atlanta’s Clayton county, which is also her hometown.

The “Big Energy” hitmaker donated over $500,000 in gifts from brands she worked with recently, including UGG, Savage x Fenty, Apple, Liquid Death, Wingstop, Rap Snacks, HALLS, Camille Rose and more. This hefty donation was twice the amount she contributed a year prior.
The proceeds were presented by her Win Some Give Some foundation. Established in 2021, the organization lends a helping hand to at-risk youth, providing them with resources and self esteem support to achieve a lifetime of equal opportunity and success.
“We are ecstatic to bring back Christmas in Clayton for the third time. This event allows us to give back to Clayton County residents and children just in time for the holidays.”
Anderson thanked the rapper as the two greeted children and gave away toys at the Clayton State University Gymnasium.
“Words cannot express how amazing it is to have Latto return to Clayton County to help spread some holiday cheer throughout our community. Her generosity is sincerely appreciated for our children and our community.”
Sticking with the Christmas vibes, Latto also gave her fans new music. Teaming up with rising Florida rapper Luh Tyler to drop her single “Grinch Freestyle”.

It is official the Texas Hottie Megan thee Stallion has a new music release strategy to partner with Music Warner Group to distribute her music while still remaining an independent artist. With having such a ghastly year one being a long legal battle with 1501 Certified Entertainment. This decision raised questions and concerns with her “hottie” fans. Megan thee Stallion has built such a brand and following on her own, it is surprising to see the “Cobra” artist align herself with another label. Both 1501 certified entertainment and Megan Thee Stallion are delighted to put this chapter behind them and move on.
Fortunately she will be self funding and embarking a new indie artist journey. This legal agreement allows her to continue to work with staff from 300 Entertainment from her previous contract. Warner Music Group will sell and/or market on behalf of Megan thee Stallion music. While she keeps all ownership of her music. Which is a vast power move for any artist in this industry. The Texas artist conveyed in a live in October how she has no desire to sign with a major label. “I’m so excited to be doing something for the first time independent since it was just me and my momma,” she said. “I’m so excited ‘cause it’s really just me this go round.” This deal allows the 28-year-old artist to remain independent and gives more leverage for her to keep her masters, while also still being managed by Roc Nation.

Wu-Tang Clan’s The Saga Continues: The Las Vegas Residency is set to premiere at the Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. The concerts will take place on February 9th through the 10th, coinciding with the city's first-ever Super Bowl weekend. The Staten Island natives will also return during the N.C.A.A. college basketball tournaments, with performances scheduled for the weekend of March 22nd through the 23rd.

Pre-sale tickets go live on Wednesday, Dec. 13th. Meanwhile, House of Blues, Live Nation, and Ticketmaster customers will receive access to a separate pre-sale starting on Thursday, Dec. 14th. All pre-sales will cease on Friday, Dec. 15th. General on-sale begins the following morning at 10 a.m. PT.
After headlining their tour and serving as a supporting act on the road with New Edition, Jodeci continues to perform with the same energy they brought to the stage earlier in their music career. After a brief hiatus amid breakup rumors, it's evident that their chemistry can’t be duplicated.

On December 8th, the Queen of Rap captivated the world, plunging the internet into Gag City with the release of her highly anticipated album, Pink Friday 2. It's now official – Gag City might be visiting a city near you on the Pink Friday 2 World Tour. Pink Friday 2 has shattered records and achieved impressive numbers within a week of its debut. The head barb in charge unveiled the PF2 tour dates on her Instagram yesterday, again leaving the world in awe!
The tour is set to kick off on March 1st in Oakland, California, and will traverse the globe, reaching Berlin, offering barbs worldwide the chance to experience Gag City in real life. Along the journey, Minaj will grace the stage at arena shows in Atlanta, Las Vegas, Boston, Toronto, and Chicago. Two special shows in New York are also on the agenda – one at Madison Square Garden and the other at Barclays Center. The first leg of the tour will conclude on May 12 in Austin, Texas, with additional stops at J. Cole's Dreamville Festival and Rolling Loud in California.
Later in the tour, Minaj will take her talents to Europe, delivering concerts in the Netherlands, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. Pre-sale tickets for the Pink Friday 2 tour will be available from December 12–14, and general sales will commence on Friday, December 15, at 9 a.m. local time. In collaboration with the Ann Cephus Family Fund Corporation, Grammy nominated rapper Offset has announced his second annual Christmas charity event, Toys 4 The Nawf. The fashion influencer and philanthropist decided to bring back the event after a successful turnout last December, where he and his team were able to donate gifts, supplies and holiday cheer to families in need. One third of the iconic musical group Migos, Set, is set to return to Gwinnett, GA., on Saturday (Dec. 2) with a festive Christmas themed carnival and toy giveaway.
“We had a great turn out last year, and I’m hoping for an even better one this year. I’ve been so blessed this year, I’m excited to bless others. That’s the reason for the season.”
The event has supported over 248 families, including nearly 500 children per press release. This incredible feat was made possible by the assurance of over 80 community volunteers and organizations including the Lawrenceville Boys & Girls Club, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Last year Offset was presented with an Honorary Key to Gwinnett County and a key to the city of Lawrenceville, Ga because of the many contributions that totaled $35,000 in toys and logistical supplies.
This year, Offset has a more ambitious goal of doubling the number of families served from last year. By providing winter coats for families, offering on-site wellness checks, which will include immunizations and blood pressure checks, while bringing attention to the importance of Internet access for all through the Internet Affordable Connectivity Program. His team will also be providing barber services for kids and offer a festive Christmas carnival.

The unveiling of Intrada Westside, a completely affordable housing community, was commemorated with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by prominent figures, including Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and Atlanta Housing COO Terri Lee.
Located at 2174 – 2176 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway, Intrada Westside signifies a major achievement in Atlanta's pursuit of affordable housing solutions. Comprising 140 residential units, the development underscores inclusivity by allocating 25 units to permanent supportive housing (PSH) through Atlanta Housing’s HomeFlex-HAVEN initiative.

Baby Tate has been remarkably transparent about her journey of self-discovery regarding her sexuality over the past few years. On October 27th, she presented her latest EP, which tells the captivating story of her journey, titled Sexploration: The Musical, at Lumiere Music Hall in Beverly Hills. The sultry vibes of the event included complimentary popcorn and an open bar featuring three signature Ciroc cocktails, each inspired by tracks from the EP: Sexplortini, Jersey Sour, and Wig Snatcher. After indulging in the complimentary snacks and drinks, the audience settled in for the show.
Baby Tate made a grand entrance into the theater, delivering her opening remarks where she expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and shared the backstory of the project. She began by emphasizing the importance of sharing her personal journey of self-discovery in the realm of sexuality, as it's a journey that we all must embark on. In a world filled with stigmas, stereotypes, and judgments surrounding sexuality, Baby Tate courageously opened up about now identifying as pansexual rather than bisexual, a transformation influenced by a heartfelt conversation with her grandmother.
“So many black people grow up in a Christian household like I did, but my Grandma was accepting of me, and so many people don’t have that kind of support.”
Sexploration: The Musical serves as Tate's creative vessel to convey the highs, lows, and everything in between that accompanies exploring the complexities of love, lust, and desire in relationships. The "I AM" rapper's performing arts background is on full display in this project, consisting of five videos filled with music and choreography, effectively telling a story in the style of a pop musical. As the lights dimmed, the show commenced with Baby Tate narrating her sexual exploration journey and introducing the first track: Luv Everybody.
Described by Baby Tate as a "Pansexual Prance," the song vividly illustrates various sexual experiences with both men and women while embracing comfort with one's own desires. The lyrics "Ain't no need to fight about me, I love everybody" encapsulate the essence of the song. Transitioning into the next track, Lollipop, Baby Tate playfully asks, "How many licks does it take? A lot less when it's just the girls." This song is a lesbian love anthem that delves into the exploration of sexual experiences with women.

West Coast rapper YG, hailing from Southern California, is set to take on a new role as the executive producer of a drama series called Don't Come To L.A. in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios. The project, spearheaded by writer-producer Damani Johnson as the showrunner, boasts a talented team of creators. The series, written by Keith Sweet II (known for his work on Star Trek: Prodigy), another Southern California native, promises to deliver a unique and compelling narrative.
In a recent interview with Nume*ro Netherlands, YG, born Keenon Dequan Ray Jackson, teased the exciting venture, leaving fans eagerly anticipating its release.
“I got a TV show in the works that I’m working on called Don’t Come To LA. It’s a great script, and I’ve already sold it to a network.”
The series will dive deep into the life of a low-level Los Angeles gangster assigned to protect one of the hottest rappers in the music industry, all thanks to the crime syndicate security company he works for. This storyline will force him to navigate the treacherous gang world while simultaneously being exposed to the glitz and glamor of the celebrity scene.
“California influenced my sound and style one hundred percent. Everything about what I do is connected to California and my hometown. It encompasses everything, from the beats and the tempos to the videos, and the way I talk, walk, and dress. YG, best known for his album My Krazy Life and his chart-topping single Don't Tell 'Em (featuring Jeremih), is a prominent figure in the West Coast rap scene. His most recent album, My Life 4Hunnid, was released in 2020.
Damani Johnson, the co-creator and co-showrunner of Disney+'s The Crossover, is lending his expertise to this project. His extensive writing credits include work on TNT's Major Crimes, USA's Necessary Roughness, and Fox's Terra Nova. He is also currently involved in Hulu's Sammy.
Joining the production as executive producers are Trevor Engelson (known for Snowfall), Josh McGuire (of Underground), Scooter Braun, James Shin (from Dave), Scott Manson of SB Projects, and Douglas Banker at Five All in the Fifth. Their involvement adds a wealth of experience and talent to this highly anticipated series.
