Los Angeles, CA — The Leimert Park Music Series lit up the legendary World Stage once again on July 28th, delivering a night that embodied everything the series stands for: raw talent, cultural pride, authentic storytelling, and deep community connection. Presented by 247 Live Culture, the fifth installment of the growing showcase welcomed an unforgettable lineup of rising Black artists who left it all on stage—proving that the future of music and poetry is bold, brilliant, and deeply rooted in purpose.
The night was packed with multi-dimensional talent, from soul-stirring singers to impactful emcees and spoken word poets. The energy in the room was electric, the crowd fully engaged, and each performer brought their truest, most vulnerable selves to the mic, turning the stage into a sanctuary for truth, healing, and powerful expression.

Keki Dexter delivered one of the night’s standout performances with an electrifying hip-hop set that combined lyrical mastery and bold stage presence. Keki Dexter is one of the best women lyricists to know right now as her performance captivated the crowd and affirmed her position as a rising force in hip-hop. Joethepoet shared his powerful journey from overcoming homelessness to performing on stages across the world, delivering spoken word-style bars that inspired every person in the room.
Isaiah Bowers, a local Leimert Park native, offered an authentic and heartfelt performance rooted in his personal story of rising above his environment and using music as a tool for change. R.O.W.E. showcased his versatility with a multifaceted performance, switching seamlessly between melodic singing and sharp rapping, proving he's a dual threat not to be overlooked.
K3ys moved the audience with her soulful vocals and emotional delivery, bringing a sense of healing and intimacy to the evening. Myk Lorenzo brought pop energy and charm to the stage, leaving a lasting impression with his smooth vocals and polished presence.
Tawon Green delivered spoken word poetry that was powerful, reflective, and deeply resonant with the cultural energy of the night. And tying it all together, Sweet Candy Radio kept the vibes flowing between sets with expertly curated DJ mixes that had the crowd swaying from start to finish.
The evening continued to build on the momentum from previous showcases. The Leimert Park Music Series has become a vital platform for rising creatives to share their gifts, connect with each other, and uplift the community.
This movement would not be possible without the ongoing support from the local community, who continue to show up, show love, and help keep the culture thriving. We also extend deep gratitude to our partner, The World Stage, for being a cultural pillar and a home for Black artistic expression since 1989.
Next Showcase: August 25th
We invite everyone to return to The World Stage on Monday, August 25th for another incredible evening of live performance, connection, and culture. With each month, the movement grows and we can’t wait to see you there.
