Not everyone has the courage and vision to see what Death Row Pictures can bring to the table, but Donna and the NBCUniversal team have always understood, which is why I am proud to call NBCUniversal my new home. The Dogg has officially moved into the neighborhood, ya dig?

Since the Long Beach native acquired Death Row Records in 2022, the label has expanded into a production house dubbed “Death Row Pictures.” The first film under the emblem will be one focused on the West Coast legend’s life. The film is written by Joe Robert Cole and produced by Snoop, Brain Grazer and Death Row Pictures President Sara Ramaker.

This strategic evolution cements the brand’s influence beyond music, ushering in a new era of innovative onscreen storytelling.

The Weeknd real name “Abel Tesfaye” has officially delivered a trailer for his upcoming film, “Hurry Up Tomorrow." Named after his massively successful 6th studio album, scenes from the trailer revealed that starring alongside The Weeknd will be Jenna Ortega, (Scream Franchise, Wednesday, You) and Barry Keoghan (Saltburn and Dunkirk). Directed by Trey Edward Shults, the teaser shows the audience an eerie, unsettling world where nothing appears to be what it seems.

Hurry Up Tomorrow (2025) Official Trailer – Abel Tesfaye, Jenna Ortega, Barry Keoghan

Set to release on May 16th, fans are met with an alternate version of The Weeknd coming to terms with his time as an entertainer. Keoghan appears in the trailer, seeming to be a close friend while Ortega is determined on destroying the pop star's persona.

As per the official description for the film, “Hurry Up Tomorrow” follows, “a musician plagued by insomnia [who] is pulled into an odyssey with a stranger who begins to unravel the very core of his existence.” While the film’s main character is a successful pop star like Abel, it's more so a loose interpretation of the artist’s time in the limelight.

An artist, you could say, on the verge of a mental breakdown…He meets this woman, and they go on this odyssey together. It’s a mix of psychological thriller and drama. I honestly feel like I’ve never seen a movie quite like it.
— Trey Edward Shults, Entertainment Weekly

The Lionsgate film features The Weeknd, Shults and Reza Fahim as co-writers for the film. Kevin Turen, Harrison Kreiss will join them as producers. Ortega and Shultz have been linked as executive producers.
